Interior Design – Windows Reveal the Soul of a Good House
"I know here in the dark
As you sit on the throne of my eyes,
In peace and look out the window
In surprise you. "
– DH Lawrence
Venus rises in the western night sky, and then later moves below the horizon, as the hours in the morning sun in the west and spends his good light on a new day.
To see this magnificent sight, daring could travel to the summit of a mountain, a desert, or perhaps a piece of beach. Dave Florek, all he can tofrom his small but spacious bedroom Van Nuys.
"I saw the moon and stars of love," says Florek. "Then you wake up and see the sun rise. This space is just a beautiful place to be."
Florek and his wife, Leigh Podgorski, renovated in single rooms on the second floor next to her homeland last year. Although a small bathroom and closet were added and a captain's bed with drawers built specially for the room, the choice of the window – in different styles – which has the room more than offsetjust a place to sleep, he says.
Above the headboard of their bed, which abuts the room’s western wall, a small octagonal window with mullions was installed. It maintains privacy while allowing a beautiful stream of early evening light – and later, moonbeams and starshine – to stream across the bed.
There’s another charming outcome that Florek likes. The intruding light casts a shadow of the quaint window against the opposite wall, where a casement window has been installed.
"The original idea was to put some of the octagonal on the front of the house. But it did not work. But what we have is better than what I originally wanted," says Florek.
When Florek and Podgorski their restoration of the west wall of the 10 – to 15-foot room began, was solid. By installing a large window sash, she won a clear view of the sunrise over trees and roof line – no loss of privacy.
But it is not finished yet. To theRoom a feeling of greater dimension, the couple installed a bay window on the north wall, where they sit and can not read the look in their pool or.
"The room is so small – there is no room for a dresser. Therefore, we have the master's bed had been built. … But the window they provide space," says Florek.
And there's something else, something less tangible. The area feels safe and still within reach of the glory of nature. Or, as Shakespeare wrote in Cymbeline, "Under theseLaced windows, white and blue, with blue sky's own tinct. "
"I'm Looking Through You, What Do I See?"
The Beatles did not sing about window design, they recorded I'm Looking Through You. But they were proposed, how transparent can be the people – especially in the selection of window!
Are you a hip and contemporary? Or are you loyal to tradition? Is your budget tight? Or is money not an issue, while comfort, energy efficiency andStyle are you? I am pleased with you.
Between-the-glass blinds are a good way to alleviate intense light, and can be raised and lowered. Between-the-glass fabric shades are also available in many door and window styles available – winged and double-hung – and do not require cleaning, because they are protected by the windows. But these products are expensive.
Less obvious are the health benefits of this type of windows. Shades in a double-sector are dust-free and therefore idealfor people with allergies. Perhaps this choice would be more of a necessity than a luxury. Or both. What do I see?
Aaron Adirim, president of California Deluxe Windows ® Industries, Inc. in Chatsworth, said the health benefits of custom-made windows can be profound.
"Some people say that they stop taking allergy medicine, after they installed our windows. Or the smell of skunk disappeared in her garden. They also report that they can finally sleep – even where non-stop traffic andthe sea, "says Adirim." We always ask why they are thinking of replacing their windows. We want to know what subjects they most disturbing. "
Adirim company had created enormous windows in the panoramic sun-drenched California landscape, while keeping out animals, pests, but also natural disasters.
"A clear view of nature is so breathtaking, you can not believe you in your own four walls. You feel like you can see the flowers, touch touchthe blue sky, "he says.
But if homeowners are not careful, the desire for a seemingly open environment may devastation during wildfire season in California inflict. Adirim said he had letters and calls from customers who believe they averted disaster because they excellent Windows was installed.
"During the fires in the vicinity of Upland, many families were evacuated," said Adirim. "When they returned, were the interiors of their houses with half-inch of ash covered. One of our customers wasalso evacuated. But when he came home, the house was spotless, the white carpet was spotless. He called and said, 'Your Windows saved my house. "
The Glad Surprise
Last year, Morgan Kearns bought a house, circa 1920, near a park. Soon she realized needed new windows.
Despite the comfortable nature of their hut, a previous owner had replaced the original wooden window frames with aluminum species. Aesthetically, the windows were wrong. And they have amiserably to keep the wind and cold.
"The house has beautiful wood floors with in-process timber. But it just does not sign with an aluminum window. They kept the house from fulfilling its potential. They were something I overlooked when I looked through them the beauty that surrounds me "says Kearns.
Kearns has its homework and found windows appropriate for their home. Luckily, she found a capable entrepreneur.
"I have the right man, herespected my ideas. But he came with ideas that I would never have happened, "she says.
Been installed as their new window, recalled the many renovations Kearns led them to their former Woodland Hills home. There were problems with the materials, late and inaccurate bids workers weakened that they save resources. In retrospect, she says, they have tried to do too much at once.
But this time everything went as planned. "I just loved to box," she says. And if the new windows were installed and could be within Kearns in view of the garden without having to sit, she realized that all the changes they had made in the past, the modernization of their windows was the most emotionally satisfying.
"It just felt like home. I really enjoy sitting and looking out the window. I'll be happy for a while," she says.
