I just want some clarity. I'm the type of person who is bothered by imprecise language, especially when in my own industry. You see, it's my job to write about the shutters and shades and the conditions, window treatments and coverings to tease all the time with little regard for their real meaning.

I have decided to do some research and get a definitive answer, which I share with the public. I do not expect is to create a kind of revolution onlyto a certain light on some pretty nebulous words.

First I went to the Merriam-Webster's online dictionary and found nothing, no definition for either word. How can this be? These terms are widely used. This is confusing for me. I use an online tool in my work, which tells me how many times per day in any public Internet using keywords. That seems clear to me. Does not mean that all will suddenly jump up on my definition train, but I can hope.
